6Gb/s SATA/SAS Raid controller από την Areca

Σύντομα αναμένεται νέα σειρά SATA/SAS Raid controllers από την Areca με κύρια χαρακτηριστικά την πλήρη υποστήριξη των νέων προδιαγραφών SATA 6Gb/s (600MB/s) και ένα νέο firmware που θα δίνει βέλτιστες επιδόσεις σε SSD. Θα στηρίζεται σε controller της Marvell.

Η τιμές βέβαια που άκουσα ήταν κάπου ανάμεσα στα 1000 και 1500€, οπότε μάλλον θα αρκεστούμε σε κάποια μητρική με Sata 6Gb/s υποστήριξη, όπως η ASUS P6X58 Premium.

The SATA Revision 3.0 Specification enhancements include:

* A new Native Command Queuing (NCQ) streaming command to enable isochronous data transfers for bandwidth-hungry audio and video applications

* An NCQ Management feature that helps optimize performance by enabling host processing and management of outstanding NCQ commands

* Improved power management capabilities

* A small Low Insertion Force (LIF) connector for more compact 1.8-inch storage devices

* A connector designed to accommodate 7mm optical disk drives for thinner and lighter notebooks

* Alignment with the INCITS ATA8-ACS standard
