Αρχιζετε και με ξενερωνετε με το Access time. Γιατι ειχα διαβασει για access time λιγο χειροτερο του raptor??? Θυμαμαι ενα γραφημα με raptor και λοιπους 7200 και ηταν ο καλυτερος των 7200 που εχανε λιγο απο ραπτορ... αλλα δε το βρησκω τωρα το λινκ...

Τον 640άρι μιά χαρά τον βγάζει.

Για τον 320άρι επισημάνουν το αυξημένο access time...

However, for reasons we are still investigating, the random access time of 16.3ms is poor compared to current desktop drives such as the Samsung HD501J that feature a class high 14.0ms random access time. Although the performance of the drive in actual applications is not hindered greatly, it is perplexing to us why this drive has such high random access times.

The one area that really disappointed us with the WD 320GB drive was its pitiful random access times at 16.4ms. After a lengthy conversation with Western Digital, we now understand why the drive performed so poorly in this test. This also explains the good but not great application results in general. Granted, the drive still performs well, but the initial specifications lead us to believe that performance should have been greatly improved over previous generation drives. Western Digital explained the single platter 320GB drive is aimed at the entry-level market where thermals and acoustics are critical for mass acceptance of the drive by the OEM and retail customers.

WD sacrificed a small amount of performance on the 320GB drive to meet these goals. This was by design and is not an indication of the performance potential of their new technology. In fact, these same 320GB platters will be used in single-sided form eventually for the 160GB drives. According to statistics, the 160GB drives have quickly replaced the 80GB products to become the new "sweet spot" in the general market. As the capacities increase, the typical user for these products normally expects a balance between performance, thermals, and acoustics. With that in mind, WD tuned the 640GB drive for additional performance at the expense of acoustics.

Τον πήρα χθες.

Οι πρώτες εντυπώσεις είναι πολύ καλές , ότι θα περίμενε κανείς, αρκετά ήσυχος ακόμα και σε βαρύ load , δροσερός,γενικότερα ένας τυπικός mainstream δίσκος.

Στο burst φαίνεται η μεγάλη διαφορά ταχύτητας σε σχέση με τον sata 1 80gb που είχα το λειτουργικό.

Θα προσπαθήσω να τον βάλω σε μηχάνημα με win για τα καθιερωμένα benches , οπότε μόνο hdparm για τώρα.

WDC WD5000AAKS-0: 81mb/sec (είναι το μοντέλο με τα 3 platters των 166gb)

WDC WD800JD-55JR (sata1): 56mb/sec

Το σύστημα ήταν ένας athlon 64 3200+ σε dfi nf4 ultra-d με 2gb ram.

Με τον ίδιο δίσκο έχω λίγοοο καλύτερα αποτελέσματα στο πιο πάνω μηχάνημα

Εξαντληθηκε παιδες... δε προλαβα δυστυχως......

Απ οτι καταλαβα ειναι γενικο το προβλημα (Info-Quest?).

Περιμενουμε την επομενη παρτιδα τωρα....
