Flash Newsletter: New special Mandriva Linux release now available!

As you know Mandriva has decided to launch new updated distributions

exclusively for Mandriva Club members, every two months, except when a

full release is due.

The first version was "Special Mandriva Club KDE 3.4, 32 bits

version", which is available via Bittorrent, or HTTP/FTP mirrors on

request.

Today the 64 bit version is comming up and is also available via

Bittorrent, or HTTP/FTP mirrors on request.

This version is based on the Limited Edition 2005 which turned out to

be a great success, with several positive reviews. It includes Amarok

and Kdemultimedia. This special version is only available for Club

members, you will not find it on the Mandriva Store or in other

channel.

Additionally, we added the KDE 3.4 packages on the club for members

who only want to update their LE 2005 without downloading again the CDs

KDE 3.4 Highlights at a glance:

* Text-to-speech system with support built into Konqueror, Kate,

KPDF and the standalone application KSayIt

* Support for text to speech synthesis is integrated with the

desktop

* Completely redesigned, more flexible trash system

* Kicker with improved look and feel

* Better synchronization between 2 PCs

* A new high contrast style and a complete monochrome icon set

* An icon effect to paint all icons in two chosen colors,

converting third party application icons into high contrast

monochrome icons

* Juk has now an album cover management via Google Image Search

* KMail now stores passwords securely with KWallet... and much

more

Από τις αγαπημένες μου διανομές η πάλαι ποτέ Mandrake.

Δυστυχώς όμως την βλέπω να μένει πίσω μετά από την κίνηση (και) της Novell, να κάνει open την SuSE.

Οι 4 μεγαλύτερες διανομές σήμερα (σε τυχαία σειρά να μη παρεξηγηθούμε) έχουν πιάσει το νόημα:

Debian (κατεξοχήν η διανομή που έδειξε το δρόμο)

RedHat (με open project την Fedora)

SuSE με το OpenSuSE

Ubuntu (Ναι συγκαταλέγεται στις μεγάλες αν και μετα βίας κλείνει 1 χρόνο ύπαρξης)

Ακόμα και η solaris έχει κάνει τη σωστή κίνηση...

Η Mandrake αν θέλει να παραμείνει με τις μεγάλες μήπως πρέπει να κάνει κάτι ανάλογο????
