Νομίζω ήρθε η ώρα να ξεκινήσει ένα thread για συζήτηση πάνω στην πλατφόρμα ZEN 4. Όσο πλησιάζουμε στην επίσημη κυκλοφορία των νέων AM5 CPUs της AMD, τόσο η ειδήσεις και οι συζητήσεις θα πληθαίνουν. Όταν με το καλό κυκλοφορήσουν οι ZEN 4, ε τότε θα έχουμε να συζητήσουμε ακόμα περισσότερα.

The MilkyWay@home database has possibly listed a brand new AMD Ryzen 7000 'Raphael' CPU based on the Zen 4 core architecture.

This specific chip, returns as a Stepping 1 revision, indicating that it is one of AMD's earliest production versions employing the Zen 4 architecture that we have seen, implying that it is a pre-production model that is not yet ready for the general market. Notably the cache, is specced at 1024KB capacity. Obviously, this is the L2 cache, as the latest Zen 2 and Zen 3 chips all have L3 cache capacities more than 1MB. However, for the L2, this is a significant improvement over AMD's existing Zen 3 processors, such as the Ryzen 9 5950X, which has just 512KB. The core count is labeled as processing units by MilkyWay@Home, therefore we assume it covers the thread count of the whole CPU. This Zen 4 chip would be an 8-core pre-production prototype with SMT enabled if this is correct.

Δεν ξέρουν τι γράφουν. Η μια μπούρδα πάνω στην άλλη... Ναι, οι Zen 2 και 3 έχουν 512ΚΒ cashe, αλλά ΑΝΑ ΠΥΡΗΝΑ. Αν ένας ΖΕΝ 4 είχε 1ΜΒ ανά πυρήνα και ήταν 8πύρηνος, θα έπρεπε να εμφανίζει 8 ΜΒ L2 cache. Από το screenshot ΔΕΝ προκύπτει ότι η cache που αναγράφεται είναι L2 ούτε και εμφανίζεται σε ένα σύνολο 8 MB, ώστε να υποθέσουμε ότι πρόκειται για 1MB/core.

 

Απλά συνδυάζουν πληροφορίες από προηγούμενες διαρροές για τους ZEN 4 EPYC που χρησιμοποιούσαν πυρήνες με 1 MB/core. Αυτό βέβαια δεν σημαίνει ότι το ίδιο θα ισχύει και στο desktop, αν και η AMD συνηθίζει να χρησιμοποιεί τους ίδιους πυρήνες/chiplets.
