saaya Δημοσιεύτηκε Απρίλιος 6, 2005 #1 Δημοσιεύτηκε Απρίλιος 6, 2005 is it possible to integrate a translation engine into the forums so people can switch to english and the site gets translated to english automatically? and if they post their posts of english get translated to greek automatically for others? is it possible to somehow link to babelfish from the site directly so people only have to click a button here and everything gets automatically sent to babelfish and tranlsated? would be really helpfull for all non greek people
H.A.Balafoutre Απρίλιος 6, 2005 #2 Απρίλιος 6, 2005 Welcome saayaThis is a good point to mention.But,1) This is a Greek domain; I mean (dot).gr, so it is rather impossible or useless for users in other countries to have an interest in Greek sites or to put it correctly, to Greek forums.2) When "WE" (Greeks) follow foreign sites or in particular foreign forums, it is because by fact "WE" fully or in general "WE" understand quite a bit the language. That is why in general even in other countries I believe nobody does that. So, we are happy to have you here and these thoughts are mine only and they dont represent the official position of the Admins of this site on this matter.
saaya Απρίλιος 7, 2005 Author #3 Απρίλιος 7, 2005 hey, well atm its useless for others to have interest in this site because most is greek and its hard to translate using babelfish all the time but this is a great forum with smart people and interesting threads, so why not add a babelfish powered translation option, if thats possible after all, wich means people from all around the world can enjoy this great forum. and iof it works like my idear was, then everything they post in english will be translated to greek by babelfish and you will be able to read their posts without having to read english
Samael Απρίλιος 7, 2005 #4 Απρίλιος 7, 2005 In theory it sound perfect Saaya, but if you try to translate with those tools from Greek to something else, its a mess!Because the grammar and syntax are way different than english or french for example. Althought, you can still get a rought idea on the topic. So maybe if its posible we could try this out

YDinopoulos Απρίλιος 7, 2005 #6 Απρίλιος 7, 2005 That's true. If u use a translator, u get mambo-jumbo cr*p. Idealy there should be a folder for the non-Greek.btw, how come u discovered this forum ?
.38-.45 Απρίλιος 7, 2005 #7 Απρίλιος 7, 2005 well, i don't believe that it is not possible for us to add a button. the problem is, of course, the online translators. we greeks, do not speak our language the way we should, so the result of the online translators, is just a joke. try this link http://www.thelab.gr/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14315 into babelfish, and tell me what you make out of it. i could not understand it, even if i participated in the thread.
Georgesod Απρίλιος 7, 2005 #8 Απρίλιος 7, 2005 Ιt's up to admins to decide on this, however the thing with grammar and translation mentioned above could be a problem especially with technical issues

sotiris Απρίλιος 7, 2005 #12 Απρίλιος 7, 2005 Αρχική απάντηση από saayawtf is Koula.? Koula ( ) is an everyday expression that we use when we want to say that something is "strange" or "weird". This is "koulo" = this is "weird" :D

kaynd Απρίλιος 8, 2005 #18 Απρίλιος 8, 2005 @ Admins Finally you will try some translator even experimental? A lot of errors in translation will exist but it will be interesting
dpresv Απρίλιος 8, 2005 #19 Απρίλιος 8, 2005 quite OT , but wow! i didn't know that there was a BABELFISH site for translation! i laughed my ass off when i first read about it! i hope you know where the word "babelfish" comes from... it's from a Douglas Adams novel "Hitch-hikers Guige to the Galaxy" (a five part trilogy ), that is one of the funniest books i 've ever read.
YDinopoulos Απρίλιος 8, 2005 #20 Απρίλιος 8, 2005 More OT.... I though "Hitch-hikers Guige to the Galaxy" was a film.....
