Chrome 6

ΜΕ νέες λειτουργίες και σταθερή αξία αλλα και πολλά extensions που αρκούν για τον μεσο χρήστη κυκλοφόρησε η τελική έκδοση του Chrome 6 που θέλει να ανταγωνιστεί τους άλλους πλοηγούς του δικτύου. Εκπληξη προκαλεί το γεγονός ότι βρίσκεται βήματα μπροστά απο τον ανταγωνισμο με έξυπνες καρτέλες αλλά και άμεσεςς αναβαθμίσεις χωρίς κόπο. Φυσικά περιμένουμε απάντηση απο Firefox και Ι.Ε.

ΣΥΜΒΑΛΛΟΝΤΑΣ στον εορτασμό των 2ων γενεθλίων του browser της, η Google ξεκίνησε τη διάθεση της τελικής έκδοσης του Chrome 6 (6.0.472.53 για την ακρίβεια). Με αυτό το update ο browser δεν αποκτά μόνο μερικές νέες λειτουργίες, αλλά μεταμορφώνεται και εμφανισιακά.

Μάλιστα η μπάρα του μενού δεν είναι μπλε αλλά ανοικτή γκρι. Τα εικονίδια για την πλοήγηση και τη ρύθμιση συρρικνώθηκαν ελαφρώς ενώ δεν έχουν πλαίσιο. Το σύμβολο του άστρου για την αποθήκευση των αγαπημένων sites μετακινήθηκε στην πάνω δεξιά άκρη της μπάρας εισαγωγής διευθύνσεων, ενώ οι σημαντικότερες λειτουργίες βρίσκονται στο διπλανό εικονίδιο που απεικονίζει ένα γαλλικό κλειδί.

Διευρύνθηκαν επίσης οι λειτουργίες συγχρονισμού: έτσι δεν θα μπορείτε να συγχρονίσετε μόνο τα bookmarks, τις ρυθμίσεις και τα themes με άλλες εγκαταστάσεις του browser αλλά και τα add-ons. Προς το παρόν αυτό λειτουργεί μόνο με τα extensions που προέρχονται από την επίσημη Google Gallery ή που μπορούν να ενημερωθούν αυτόματα με updates.

νας σημαντικός νεωτερισμός αφορά στον ενσωματωμένο αναγνώστη αρχείων PDF. Με αυτόν γίνεται περιττή η χρήση ενός εξωτερικού plug-in για την παρακολούθηση αρχείων PDF. Bέβαια η Google τον έχει απενεργοποιήσει από default, ενώ θα είναι ενεργοποιημένος στον Chrome 7. Όποιος, ωστόσο, θέλει να τον ενεργοποιήσει μπορεί να χρησιμοποιήσει το "about plugins" στην μπάρα διευθύνσεων του browser.

Αλλά και η λειτουργία Autofill έχει ενσωματωθεί στον Chrome 6. Με αυτήν συμπληρώνονται αυτόματα σε μια φόρμα του Web συχνά χρησιμοποιούμενες πληροφορίες όπως είναι το όνομα, το email και η ημερομηνία γέννησης.

Όσον αφορά στο θέμα της ταχύτητας, φαίνεται να έχουν γίνει αρκετά πράγματα: ο Chrome 6 είναι σαφώς ταχύτερος από τον προκάτοχο του και ακτύπητος όταν έρχεται σε άμεση αντιπαράθεση με τον τωρινό Firefox 3.6.8 ή τους Opera 10.61 και Internet Explorer 8 (που είναι μακράν ο πιο αργός).
