kIlGoRi Φεβρουάριος 12, 2005 Author #3 Κοινοποίηση Φεβρουάριος 12, 2005 AAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Create a sensation of falling by messing with the inner ear. (+1) [vote for, against] Those of you have been lucky enough to see a good IMAX movie know that you can get the sensation of flight from seeing it displayed realisticly enough. Your mind essentially ignores what your inner ear is telling you because it "knows" that it's wrong. This doesn't happen for a less realisticly protrayed display, such as the ones found in a computer game. Thus, IMAX in a sense has tactile feedback, while games do not. (IMAX "flight" is so much better than force-feedback that I choose to ignore it. The computer moving my joystick around for me is NOT what I consider tactile feedback.) What I propose is a system based on either infrasound or low voltage electrodes that stimulates the inner ear to give a sensation of acceleration. Such a system, in conjuntion with a high quality flight simulation, would be really fun. It wouldn't have to be based on reality either, although that's certainly a possibility. You could have a "game" consisting of that dream some people have where you can fly like Supermanαυτα λεει αυτος σαν προταση αλλα υπαρχει στα αληθεια αυτο το πραγμα της εξομοιωσης της επιταχυνσης μεσω καποιων συχνοτητων(που δεν τις ακους) οι οποιες επηρεαζουν τα αισθητηρια κεντρα της ακοης τα οποα σου μπορουν να σου δωσουν την αισθηση της επιταχυνσης ακομη και αν εισαι ακουνητος --- φανταστειτε παιχνιδια RACING κυριως με αυτο το πραγματακι --- θα φευγεις απο την καρεκλα

kIlGoRi Φεβρουάριος 12, 2005 Author #6 Κοινοποίηση Φεβρουάριος 12, 2005 κατι πιο επισημο It has long been realized that infrasound may cause feelings of awe or fear. Since it is not consciously perceived, it can make people feel vaguely that supernatural events are taking place. In a controlled experiment published in September, 2003, people at a concert were asked to rate their responses to a variety of pieces of music, some of which were accompanied by infrasonic elements. The participants were not aware of which pieces included the infrasound. Many participants (22%) reported feelings of anxiety, uneasiness, extreme sorrow, nervous feelings of revulsion or fear and chills down the spine which correlated with the infrasonic events. In presenting the evidence to the British Association, the scientist responsible said "These results suggest that low frequency sound can cause people to have unusual experiences even though they cannot consciously detect infrasound. Some scientists have suggested that this level of sound may be present at some allegedly haunted sites and so cause people to have odd sensations that they attribute to a ghostour findings support these ideas".
