Apple to ring in 71.5M iPhone sales in holiday quarter

Apple's holiday quarter will be a merry one, courtesy of heavy demand for the iPhone 6, says at least one analyst.

In an investors report scooped up by AppleInsider, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said he predicts that Apple will sell 71.5 million iPhones during the current quarter. If true, that number would be about a 40 percent jump over the 51 million iPhones sold during the final quarter of 2013 and an 82 percent leap over the 39.3 million sold last quarter.

The iPhone 6 will lead the sales surge this quarter, said Kuo, accounting for 60 percent of all iPhone sales for the quarter, or 41.65 million handsets. And by iPhone 6, the analyst specifically means the 4.7-inch screened variant.

Έχουν βρει  τι φταίει, το Android... και μόλις ετοιμάσουν το ecosystem για το Tizen το 3500 μΧ θα χτυπήσουν στα ίσα την Apple.

μερικές φορές σκέφτομαι αν πουλάει τόσα κομμάτια με τέτοια τιμή τι θα πουλούσε αν ήταν 30% φθηνότερο. Αλλά μετά ίσως δεν το αγόραζαν γιατί δεν θα είχε premium τιμή... περίεργο πράγμα το marketing σίγουρα η Apple ξέρει καλύτερα

Μα είναι απλό! Το κινητό όπως και το αυτοκίνητο, είναι δείγματα του κοινωνικού status. Εάν είσαι ματσό έχεις το καλύτερο-ακριβότερο και το κυκλοφορείς να το δουν οι άλλοι.

Apple has likely handily broken sales records with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, and new app download numbers from app marketing firm Fiksu give us even more reason to believe that’s true. Fiksu’s October App Store Competitive Index found that app downloads through the month were up 42 percent over their September total, and up 39 percent year-over year, reaching a record high of 7.8 million across the top 200 free iOS apps.

Regardless of how much of the new activity is redownload, the key takeaway here is that Apple’s latest iPhone launch is very likely to not just break, but blow away previous smartphone hardware sales records. If we were to extrapolate that a 40 percent increase in app downloads translates to an equivalent increase in the sale of devices, Apple will have sold roughly 70 million iPhones in the holiday quarter this year, easily a record for the company, and in line with analyst predictions.
